Recently, Jeffrey D. Katz, Esq. of JDKatz, P.C. was interviewed on FOX 5 news about pet trusts and how to ensure your pets are cared for after you’re gone. Essentially, in a pet trust, the grantor (the person who owns the pet) will set aside a certain amount of money in a trust, which will be managed by a trustee after the grantor passes away. The grantor will also appoint a pet caretaker (someone other than the trustee) to ensure there are checks and balances in place.
