Firm’s tax and litigation lawyers chosen for peer recognition and professional achievement
BETHESDA, Md. (Jan. 1, 2023) – The law firm of JDKatz, P.C. has announced that three of its attorneys were selected for inclusion on the 2023 Washington, DC Super Lawyers and Rising Stars lists.
Super Lawyers is a rating service of outstanding lawyers from more than 70 practice areas who have attained a high degree of peer recognition and professional achievement. The selection process is multi-phased and includes independent research, peer nominations and peer evaluations. Only 5 percent of attorneys are chosen annually for these lists. Katz was named to the Maryland/DC Super Lawyers lists annually since 2015, and selected for Rising Stars from 2011-2012. He also has been named in the Top 5 percent of tax and estate lawyers. After working as a solo tax accountant and CPA, he started his law practice in 2000. Since then, he has helped a roster of national and international clients, both individual and corporate, grapple with a range of legal and business issues, including state and federal tax disputes.
Katz has prepared 5,000+ estate plans and administered over $100 million in estates and trust assets, and successfully represented clients in administrative law hearings before the Internal Revenue Service, Maryland Comptroller’s Office, Maryland Department of Labor Licensing and Regulation, Small Business Administration, U.S. Department of Labor and various other state, local and administrative agencies. In addition to presenting seminars nationwide for NBI and myLawCLE, he has contributed articles for Bloomberg/BNA, Inc. and been featured as a legal expert on TV.
A member of the Maryland Bar, Bar Association of Montgomery County and Maryland State Bar Association, Katz is admitted to practice before the Maryland District and Circuit Courts, Maryland Federal District Court and the United States Tax Court. He earned his undergraduate degree from the American University, followed by a law degree from the Chicago-Kent College of Law and Masters of Taxation from the University of Miami. Katz resides in Bethesda with his wife and four children.

This marks McInturff’s inaugural time as a Super Lawyer, after being on the Maryland/DC Rising Stars lists from 2016-2022. She also was named a Leading Woman by The Daily Record. She represents individuals and businesses throughout Maryland and Washington D.C. in complex civil and commercial matters. In addition to focusing on Plaintiff’s side litigation, contract disputes, employment litigation, construction litigation, and actions arising under consumer protection acts and state wage laws, she takes on clients in private domestic law matters, including in guardianship matters. She regularly appears before State and Federal Courts, as well as before administrative and arbitration bodies, and is a columnist for The Daily Record’s Maryland Family Law Update.
Active in the Bar Association of Montgomery County, Maryland, she co-chairs the Leadership Development Academy and serves on the Strategic Planning Committee and Judicial Nominations Panel Committee, among others. She also serves on the Bar Foundation of Montgomery County’s Maryland CLE Committee and was inducted into the Foundation’s Bar Leaders. Additionally, she holds memberships in Montgomery County American Inns of Court and Women’s Bar Association of Maryland – Montgomery County Chapter and is a board trustee with Bike to the Beach.
McInturff earned her Juris Doctor from American University’s Washington College of Law with the Highest-Grade Certification. A National Semi-Finalist in the ABA Arbitration Competition, she mediated disputes with Access Youth, Inc. and represented clients in domestic and immigration matters at the Women and the Law Legal Clinic. She earned her undergraduate degree from the University of Delaware, where she was on the Dean’s List, a Student-Athlete Academic All-Star, student-athlete mentor and member of the varsity Women’s Rowing Team.

-Associate: Katelyn E. Holbrook – Top Rated Estate & Trust Litigation Attorney
Debuting on the list, Holbrook focuses on estate planning, trust administration and litigation. Experienced in handling intricate family dynamics – both in the context of planning and administration – she has prepared estate plans for hundreds of clients, including plans with complex drafting and tax planning components.
Licensed to practice in the State of Maryland and the District of Columbia, she is a member of the District of Columbia Bar Association, Maryland State Bar Association and the Montgomery County Bar Association. After receiving her undergraduate degree from Syracuse University, she earned a Juris Doctorate from Catholic University of America’s Columbus School of Law, where she was editor-in-chief of the Catholic University Journal of Law and Technology, an active member of the Women’s Law Caucus and co-chair of CUA Law’s 27th Annual Auction benefiting the Students for Public Interest Law Organization. As a law student she also regularly participated with the Veterans Consortium Pro Bono Clinic at the VA Medical Center, as well as the Wills for Vets program with Neighborhood Legal Services.
