Attorney Jeffrey D. Katz, Esq. was interviewed by FOX 5 to talk about the Federal Trade Commission’s (FTC) most recent ruling to ban non-compete clauses nationwide. Specifically, this ruling will prevent employers from using these clauses to restrict workers’ mobility after they leave their current positions. This decision was based on the FTC’s conclusion that non-competes are bad for workers and the economy alike. With this, Katz adds, “It’s estimated that 30 million Americans are subject to non-competes. Typically these are designed to protect the employer not the employee. They are keeping wages down by preventing employees from leaving for better paying positions or from even starting their own businesses.”
