How to Protect Yourself From the Coronavirus

The coronavirus has taken the country by storm, as events and gatherings rapidly close. Fortunately, despite all the commotion, there are several actions you can take to limit the virus’s spread. Please continue reading to learn more about how you can keep safe in these uncertain times:

  • Consistently wash your hands. This is one of the most important things you can do to ensure you do not contract the virus. Always use warm, soapy water and wash for at least 20 seconds. Alcohol-based hand sanitizer also efficiently kills most viral germs, so if you have it, use it.
  • Do not go out in public, if at all possible. However, if you do, ensure you practice social distancing, which involves staying at least three feet away from everyone you come in contact with. Self-quarantining is an extremely important measure, and if you can take it, you should.
  • If you have to cough or sneeze, do so into your elbow. Additionally, do not touch your face, especially after going out in public, as this is one of the ways in which the virus can enter your body if you have come in contact with it.
  • If you believe you are now experiencing some of the symptoms associated with the coronavirus, such as a dry cough, runny nose, fever, pneumonia, or a sore throat, do not go to the doctor’s office. Instead, call your local health authorities and ask them about the next steps forward to ensure you do not spread the virus to others at the doctor’s office.

Remember, it is always best to be safe, rather than sorry. Above all, keep calm, stay positive, and do not be afraid.
